Musar Jeune Red 2010, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon 14%

This is the third vintage of Musar Jeune, a new wine from Chateau Musar. It is an unoaked blend of Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon and only available in limited quantities. Musar wines are generally released with a period of bottle age, but this has been released early to make the most of the vivid fruit flavours. Spicy red cherry, ripe plum and raspberry aromas with a hint of musk and white pepper. Lots of juicy, vivid red fruit flavours in the mouth and an attractive freshness and purity, which is particularly evident on the long finish. There is a nod towards the sun-soaked wines of the south of France but there is an additional something, which can only be described as "Musar". The wine's rarity means this may not be the cheapest wine on the market but you are unlikely to find anything quite as interesting at this price.
