Vina Errazuriz was founded in 1870 by Don Maximiano Errazuriz and is managed by Eduardo Chadwick, a family descendant and its current President. Vina Errazuriz is recognised as on of the finest Chilean wine estates with vineyards iin the Aconcagua, Casablanca and Curico valleys. With a quality philosophy in all aspects of viticulture and vinification. Vina Errazuriz is now recongnised as a leader in Chilean and New World wine production. Moving forward and looking ahead to the future, Errazuriz have pioneered the development of the Aconcagua Costa, in addition to opening Chile's first sustainable vineyard in the region, Don Maximiano, after Errazuriz's founder.
This particular Sauvingon Blanc, hails from the Aconcagua valley, a mere 12km from the Pacific Ocean in the Valparaiso region of Chile. The proximity to the Ocean has its own effect on the vineyard; cool and cold, with a risk and frost and chance of rain. The Chief Winemaker at Errazuriz, Francisco Baettig, adds that "the soils are thin and poor here, which limits yields, making it an excellent vineyard for making top quality wines. The 2015 vintage was challenging, which resulted in an early harvest of fruit with balanced sugars and acidity. However, a 3 month ageing on its lees has allowed complex, layered aromas and flavours to develop within the wine. The grapes for this exquiste wine are harvested earlier in the morning, when the temperatures are lower as a result of the mist from the Pacific Ocean. This helps to preserve the natural acidity in the grapes. Enjoy with seafood and a light salad. Drink now - 2019.
"Beautiful, complex Sauvingon Blanc, bursting with aromas such as white flowers, citrus, yellow cherries, yellow plums and gooseberries, as well as asparagus and tropical fruits. The delicate, fresh and fruity palate has lovely tension, mouthwatering acidity and a lengthy, crisp, mineral finish. Exceptional!" - Decanter World Wine Awards, Platinum, Best in Show Sauvingon Blanc under £15, 95 points.
"The nose is very expressive, powerful, pungent, herbal, even vegetal with aromas of herbs and bay leaf reaching seaweed -- very fresh overall. The palate is quite fresh and austere, with good balance between acidity and volume; it is serious and dry, ideal with seafood" - Robert Parker, 90 pointsmore ↓ less ↑
